The Jamaica Flour Mills Foundation and the Hart/Jacobs Scholarship Programme yesterday awarded five scholarships to students pursuing studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona, and the University of Technology, Jamaica.
The 2011/2012 scholarship recipients were Ryan Landey (Actuarial Science), Ricardo Stewart (Computer Science), Kadri Nicholson (Geography & Economics), Carnel Campbell (Civil Engineering) and Jodian Francis (Pharmacy).
The Jamaica Flour Mills Foundation and the Hart/Jacobs Scholarship Programme were established in 1988 to provide financial assistance to qualified students to pursue tertiary education. Since inception, a total of 189 students have completed their courses of study under the programme.
Up to the end of the 2010/2011 academic year, a total of J$32,297,150.00 have been disbursed in scholarships. For the 2011/2012 academic year, $2,050,000.00 will be disbursed to current and new scholarship holders.
